Intimate and peaceful, the trails in Deer Lake Park take
visitors through cool woods, grassy meadows and lakeside vistas. Watch for a
variety of bird life, or enjoy the floral gardens.
Deer Lake Park is also home to a variety of scenic and cultural facilities
including the Shadbolt Centre For The Arts and
the Art Gallery Burnaby
and Century Gardens.
For heritage buffs and those who would like to walk along Deer Lake, a 45 minute
self guided heritage walking tour is a must. This 2 kilometer walk takes you to
seven stately homes set in the country landscape along the north shore of the
lake in beautiful Deer Lake Park.

Deer Lake Boat Rentals
From Easter to Thanksgiving, Deer Lake Park offers canoe, kayak, pedal boat and
row boat rentals. This is a great way for individuals, families and large groups
to see the resident blue herons, turtles and beavers that surround the lake. For

Deer Lake Park offers a peaceful natural environment in the heart of the city.
The trails meander around the lake and through unique meadows and woodlands. In
the summer you can rent a boat, launch your own canoe, sailboat or rowboat on
Deer Lake, or enjoy sunbathing on the beach at the lake's east end. There are
also wildlife watching opportunities in the lake, forest, meadow and marsh
areas. Bird watchers will be thrilled and horticulturalist shouldn't miss the
Century Gardens, with hundreds of rhododendrons
bursting in bloom every spring.
Deer Lake Park also plays host to such annual popular outdoor events such as the
Burnaby Rhododendron Festival,
the Burnaby Discovery Day Festival, Symphony in the Park and the Burnaby Blues +
Roots Festival in its 10,000 seat natural amphitheatre. The House of Blues also
programs a summer long series of music concerts.
Getting There
From the Trans Canada Highway, take the Kensington South turnoff. Turn west on
Canada Way and follow the signs to Deer Lake Park.
