is a not-for-profit organization, dedicated to the promotion and professional development of artists, and services for art collectors. It was established in 1941 with André Biéler as its first president. Other leaders have included Group of Seven painter, Lawren Harris. Dedicated to its aim of gradually raising the artists' standards by stimulating participants to greater heights of achievement, they opened what is believed to be the first completely artist-sponsored gallery-workshop-studio in Canada.
