Surrey Golf Club |
For over thirty five years, Surrey Golf Club has provided
outstanding value to golf enthusiasts of the Lower Mainland. From great green
fee value on a well groomed golf course, to affordable prices in the Pro Shop,
Bud’s Bar & Grill and for tournaments and banquets.
The Vancouver Sun’s Golf Writer, Brad Zeimer had this to say about Surrey Golf
Club…
A number of changes over the years have made this course one of the best golf
bargains in the Lower Mainland. It is plenty long and the greens are in terrific
shape and quick.
It won’t take you long to realize you have your hands full on Surrey’s opening
hole, a 446 yard dogleg.
My favourite hole is the 318 yard par 4, 14th, a dogleg left that can be reached
off the tee if you dare to try and cut the corner. To do that you must avoid out
of bounds left and long, a front bunker and water hazard to the right. The safe
play is to hit a mid to long iron off the tee, leaving you a wedge to a tricky
green with two distinct tiers.
Surrey Golf Club offers a full service clubhouse that serves great grub.
The championship Main Course at Surrey Golf Course measures in excess of 6,700
yards from the blue tees, 6400 yards from the white tees and 5,900 yards from
the red tees. The course features a beautiful variety of mature trees, and
combined with strategically placed water hazards and bunkers, will challenge all
golfers. However, the generous fairways and trimmed rough, makes it enjoyable
for golfers of all levels. Tournaments played on the Main Course normally
involve participants who are familiar with the game of golf, including course
etiquette and being able to complete 18 holes of golf in 4 ½ - 5 hours.
In deciding on what tees to play, keep in mind the ability of the majority of
your participants. Speed of play, which affects the enjoyment of your
participants, will be seriously affected by which tees you choose. All
tournaments are marshalled by Surrey Golf Club staff. Those players unable to
keep pace will receive 'regular visits' from the marshal. Should the group,
after repeated visits, be unable to maintain the pace of the play, the marshal
may ask the group to pick up their golf balls and move to the next tee, let the
group behind play through, or if the group shows no signs of cooperation, they
will be asked to leave the golf course.
The Willows Nine
The Willows Nine course was constructed in the mid 1980's in order to meet the
needs of the new golfer and those golfers who wish a shorter, somewhat less
demanding, and more economically priced golf experience. The Willows Nine is
well suited to tournaments that prefer nine holes, a shorter course, and where
the majority of the tournament participants have limited golfing experience.
The Willows Nine measures 2200 yards and is comprised of 4 par 3's, and 5 par
4's. Don't let the length fool you, the Willows Nine is very challenging with
it's water hazards and undulating greens.A
