We tried a few Hotels in Vancouver, this one was below our expectation.
Basic hotel nothing more.
Pros:
The view is awesome.
The balcony (tiny) is a plus.
Close to Safeway.
Cons:
The noise coming from the pluming is annoying...Sleep quality was very
poor.
The room needs to be repaint and it needs new wallpaper.
Small room, old furniture .
Huge fees for Hotel shuttle $25 for a round trip...Take the sky train if
you don't have a lot of luggage...
Front desk staff don't know the true meaning of customer service...No
smile, no thank you for staying at our hotel or have a good
day...Nothing.

A good average hotel with decent rooms, good views and price specials
that entice. The location is very good. Parking is a bit awkward and may
scare some but that’s the neighborhood. The balconies are a nice
feature. Small fridge in the room a good addition. It’s an older
property and there are simply not enough electrical outlets. When almost
every plug is in use by hotel provided equipment where do you put your
phone, computer, etc. This is often the case these days and a simple
remedy is to put in a couple of multi-plugs. They have nice flat screen
TV's but they block use of it for hooking up your computer and I think
this is just being cheap. Finally I could not get the wireless internet
to work despite calling their support. Calling the front desk to follow
up did no good and I was still charged for it. I was able to have it
taken off the bill at checkout but it was a nuisance. Finally I am not
sure who is coming up with this individual style kiosk design for front
desks. Perhaps the sophisticated traveler might like it but my
observation is it causes confusion, mixed up line ups, line jumping,
etc. In this hotel that is compounded by the fact that you have two ways
into the front desk area. The desk clerks were ok but had no idea how to
triage or keep the line moving. Small stuff I know but that’s the make
or break factor I suggest..

I recently had a 3 night stay, and I can say that this is the worst
hotel I have stayed in for a long time. The reception area was large and
modern, and the staff were OK - not overly enthusiastic or helpful, but
OK. My room on 17th floor had a fantastic view but was desperately in
need of refurbishment - stained and torn wallpaper, stained carpet,
cheap furniture etc. The bathroom was worse - tired and stained,
especially the tiles, grouting and bathtub. The room was cold and the
air con/heating did not work - and telling reception several times did
not result in anyone trying to fix it.
I agree with other reviewers about the fantastic views from the
revolving restaurant on 42nd floor, but I would not recommend spending
your money on a meal there. The food was expensive but only average
quality, and service was appalling - staff were openly rude,
disinterested and surly. Avoid at all costs!

I've been several times at the Empire Landmark Hotel. The view from the
top revolving restaurant is maybe the best view you can get in North
America mind you may enjoy the same awesome view from the rooms at the
high floors. All the rooms are with balcony. The only issue is the space
of the rooms and the furniture that looks a bit outdated. Nice personnel
service.

The shower will try to kill you, but you don't need it. Use the tap! The
pressure is so strong that it will sprinkle water all over the place
(regardless of your strenuous efforts to avoid it and apply the gentlest
touch to it!), including yourself and your nice Saturday night outfit
(and you come from Seattle, so small bag and not many of those)!
Seriously they need to do something for that hot scorching hard pressure
water in the shower. I guess if you had skin like a donkey you might
appreciate it though...
For the rest:
The batteries in the TV remote were almost completely exhausted.
The soap was sticky and very hard to rinse off from your skin
(cheap!!!),
In the morning I would be woken up by the shower noise in the next room
(no kidding!).
Hotel furniture is outdated.
Location is good.
Service was professional but I didn't see anyone going the extra mile
for any of the clients. |
