Guest Review of the Holiday Inn Vancouver Downtown

Nice, central location, convenient to downtown, Vancouver’s West End
neighborhood, and the Granville Street and Davie Street entertainment
areas. We were a little worried that the location would be a little loud
because of its proximity to Granville Street but we didn't experience
any issues. At the same intersection at which the hotel sits is also a
Starbucks and a coffee shop.
The lobby was consistently busy and hectic, with lots of people and
groups moving through. It seemed modern and up-to-date enough. The rooms
were a bit tired and could use some updating. Nothing wrong with them,
they just look like they've not been much thought about for 15 years or
so. They were clean and well-kept, though.
We found the Holiday Inn & Suites Vancouver Downtown to be perfectly
okay. If you're looking for chic, this is not your spot, but, if you're
looking for a centrally-located tourist-class hotel, this is a good
option.

It's a good place to stay but don't expect the quality that Holiday Inn
normally delivers. My family and I, a party of 4 adults recently stayed
at this hotel for 4 nights and the service from one of the staff members
at the front desk (Kevin) was most exceptional. However, the service
could not make up for the quality of the room, furniture and cleanliness
of the room. We were very disappointed that the beds were only doubles
and even though they relocated us to the LL2 floor the room looked very
much like a run down place. The quality of the furniture was very poor,
light stands that didn't work and not enough electrical outlets. Also,
the restaurant food (buffet) at breakfast time was cold and very poor
quality. It wasn't worth the money we paid for it. However, the service
was superb. Because of that, we didn't eat at the restaurant anymore.
The concierge services were not helpful especially for first time
visitors since they assumed we knew what we wanted to do and we were
looking for suggestions. I'd say that after we sent a review to the
marketing manager that they explained that they may be renovating the
hotel in the near future. Also, in fairness to the hotel, we had just
arrived from a stay at another Holiday Inn in Seattle and we had a point
of comparison.

I stayed for 4 nights and found the front desk and conference staff
helpful and friendly. The two major complaints is that the elevators are
MUCH too small and the daily waits got tiresome very quickly. The room
is a bit tired, but clean; but the bathroom is tiny and the toilet,
shower, and sink vanity are all smashed together. But the downtown
location is fantastic, everything is within walking distance.

We had 4 nights at this hotel and we were very impressed by the
knowledge and helpfulness of the staff throughout our stay. Although we
found our executive room to be a little 'tired' it had everything we
needed including space. The hotel is in the perfect location to explore
pretty much all of Vancouver which is an excellent city with probably
the friendliest people I have ever met, with most attractions being
within walking distance. If in Vancouver again we would definitely stay
here.

Fee for parking, weird/tiny elevator situation, good service, reasonable
rates, wifi was a little slow. Pretty decent breakfast buffet available
for purchase. If you're a light sleeper, beware of noisy seagulls in the
morning (although you'd probably encounter this same issue in many
hotels/parts of Vancouver). |
