This hotel is right on the edge of English Bay and Stanley Park. It is an very
good hotel and reasonably priced. There are numerous excellent restaurants in
the neighborhood - check out Rain City Grill - and there is even a bicycle
rental shop across the street close to all the bike trails along the waterfront.
Downtown is a 15 minute walk, or take the bus outside the hotel door. You really
can't go wrong at the Sands. Lates visit was in November, 2011, but we and
friends have stayed many times there amd it has always been clean, efficient and
well staffed.

We stayed two lots of 3 nights at the Sands in September 2011 and were very
happy. The staff at the front desk could not have been more helpful. When we
left for one night in Seattle we were able to keep our bags at the hotel. Rooms
and bathrooms were clean, air-conditioning, fridge, coffee machine all worked
well.
Only minor criticism was that the free wi-fi was a bit unreliable. I sometimes
had to take the laptop down the corridor close to the lifts to get connected.
Location was handy. Close to English Bay and Stanley Park. Buses to downtown and
the hop-on-hop-off bus stops were close.

We stayed one night, in October, between two flights. It is very easy to get to
the hotel from the airport using public transportation (Skytrain and local bus).
The room was OK, large enough, clean and with a comfortable bed. There was wifi
in the room. The hotel lounge, Bayside Lounge, has an excellent view of the Bay.
It's the ideal place for a drink before dinner.
The hotel is very well located, close to the ocean and to Stanley Park. We had a
nice long walk before dinner. There are plenty of restaurants close by. We had
dinner at Costa's on Denman Street. I think that it was recently opened. Good
italian food and service at a reasonable price.
We had breakfast at the hotel. Service was very efficient and pleasant.
Breakfast was good.
We would not hesitate to stay there again.

We choose this Hotel due to location & reviews from Trip Advisor. Stayed for 4
nights, but would of happily stayed for longer. The location was great. So close
for Stanley Park, Restaurants, Transportation - everything we needed. Our room
was spacious and clean. Would recommend this hotel to anyone. Also service was
great!!!
Room Tip: After reading a number of reviews, the most common concern was the
street noise. We got a back room, over looking carpark, which was occasionally
noisy from people outside talking, but we didn't mind & it didn't affect our
sleep. I can see from the having the bus stop right outside that the street
front would be a little noisy.

Great location, 100yards if that from water front and stanly park. Had room on
front nice and spacious as light sleeper could have benifited from double
glazing but view compensates. Free wi fi was very fast and great plus for work
trip. Staff were friendly and willing to help with all aspects. Would recommend
for location, service and price just needs bit work reduce outside noise.

Although not close to the Skytrain stations, bus service is quite convenient for
anyone staying at the Sands. Additionally, great restaurants, groceries, various
services (pharmacies, bike rentals), Stanley Park, English Bay, False Creek are
within walking distance. Service from hotel staff was great and some good
coupons for Sands-owned eateries were provided at check-in time. I would
recommend requesting a room on the north side of the complex (facing the alley)
as the aforementioned buses tend to make a bit of noise that could disturb the
light sleeper. |
