Blue Horizon Hotel Vancouver Guest Recommendations

We loved staying at the
Blue Horizon Hotel in Vancouver before our cruise to
Alaska. The hotel is centrally located in Vancouver right in the middle of the
shopping district on
Robson Street and not far from
Canada Place or
Stanley Park. The room that we had on the 25th floor faced east onto a
side street and we later realized we wish we had requested a room facing west.
This would have helped us see the
Celebration of Light
fireworks on English
Bay.
We also went to the patio restaurant out front after a long day of sightseeing
including a 6- mile Bike in
Stanley Park and around downtown, a 4- mile walk to the
Aqua Bus water taxi,
browsing through
Granville Island (loved that),
Gastown and Chinatown! We were
exhausted and happy to be back at the Blue Horizon.
The location on Robson Street is good if you're into shopping at small boutique stores or drinking coffee; there are Starbucks across the street from each other along with other chain coffee shops. People watching at the hotel patio bar is not very interesting nor are the bar's patrons.
Things to do: visit Gastown area; some interesting private art
galleries, a couple of nice street patio taverns. Ride a bike
Getting around Stanley
Park. High-end shopping at the
Granville Street mall and along
Robson Street; not my thing. A few
other interesting private Art
Galleries scattered about town. Since I'm not into
shopping or fine-dining experiences, for me, 2 days in
Vancouver were plenty;
one might have sufficed.
Great cafe close by serving reasonably
priced, hearty breakfast - Coco Rico Cafe Bistro, 1290 Robson Street.
Ask for a room facing Stanley Park.
I especially enjoyed the jazz club,
O'Doul's Restaurant and Bar, located on
Robson Street. It is
within walking distance.
Also high on our list is Stanley Park, especially the seawall walk-what a
beautiful place!
This hotel is old but the Hotel Location on Robson Street is within walking
distance of many good restaurants like the Keg Steak House and Moxie's.
