Editors Review of the Granville Island Hotel Granville Island is one of Vancouver's more entertaining neighborhoods, but unless you've moored up in a houseboat, the only overnight option is the Granville Island Hotel. This is one of Vancouver's best-kept secrets, this hotel is tucked away on the edge of Granville Island in a unique waterfront setting, a short stroll from theaters, galleries, and the fabulous Granville Island public market. If you don't have a car, the only potential drawback to a stay here is the location. During the daytime when the False Creek ferries are running, it's a quick ferry ride to Yaletown or the West End. After 10pm, however, you're looking at a C$15-to-C$20 cab ride or an hour walk. The Island after dark is reasonably happening, and the hotel's waterside restaurant and brewpub are good-weather hangout spots with outdoor seating. The Granville Island Market is a great place to go for breakfast or lunch. Lots of places to buy snacks or coffee. There is not a single ’chain" outlet to be seen Take the Aquabus for under $4 for a
quick little cruise to Yaletown down False Creek where there are even more
excellent restaurants and a shopping district. |
