Hotel Review of the Delta Whistler Village Suites

We had booked a one bedroom suite from Australia, but on arrival realised that
the accommodation would be too tight for one parent and three teenagers. The
hotel was terrific and for a nominal fee upgraded us to include a separate
bedroom through a connecting door; this then allowed sufficient room and an
additional bathroom.
Staff at the hotel were very obliging and the establishment had an exceptional
family run feel to it. Complimentary hot chocolate was available from 3pm; great
after a days skiing.
Breakfast was delivered to the room at the nominated time in cold packs. You
then had your kitchen to prepare your bacon and eggs, cook your toast,
refrigerate your juice etc. Portion sizes were more than adequate.
A fire place was in the lounge area of the suite which appeared to be the only
place we could dry our ski clothing; a washing machine and dryer were also
available.
The pools were outdoors and although we did not utilise, we could see the steam
brimming from the surface and many guests were obviously enjoying its warmth.
The location of the apartments is mid-way within the Village. It's a ten minute
walk to the chairlift and Whistler/Blackcomb ski hire. In the chairlift
direction are many boutique stores and restaurants heading in the other
direction is the food market/supermarket; mega liquor store; post office etc.
We found Delta very comfortable and would not hesitate to rebook for a ski
holiday.

My husband and I stayed here for 10 nights. The staff were fantastic and could
not do enough for you. I booked a one bedroom suite so that we would have a
little more space, and was so glad I did. It was like a mini apartment,
definitely well worth the extra I paid and very good value for money. The room
was spotlessly clean on our arrival and cleaned every day. There was a full
kitchen with pretty much everything you could want, even a dishwasher. It was
also wonderful to have our own washing machine and dryer. I loved the way the
bathroom was arranged, with the bath and shower in a separate but connected room
to the toilet and sink.
The location of the hotel was spot on for us. It was close to the heart of the
action (only 5 mins walk to the lifts/gondolas) but far enough away to be out of
the crowds. Even though we were a short walk to the slopes, there was still a
complimentary shuttle to take you if you were feeling lazy! There are really
good restaurants for all tastes and budgets right on the doorstep, and loads of
shops too. There is a pub/bar attached to the hotel called the Elephant and
Castle which does "pub grub" style food. We took advantage of their 5 at 5 offer
one night, which offers selected meals from their menu for $5 between 5pm and
6pm. Rather good if you have overdone the spending on any particular day!
A previous review mentioned excessive noise from the nightclub Garfinkels if you
stay in building one. We stayed in building one and never had a problem. One of
the weekends we were there was a holiday due to Martin Luther King day - there
were hordes of drunken students lining up outside the various nightclubs
including Garfinkels, but we never heard a thing at any time of the day or
night!
I used the pool and hot tubs - really nice - and open from 6am right through
till 10pm. The hotel offers complimentary ski/board storage and you can also
rent equipment from them.
I really cannot fault this hotel - we will definitely be staying here on our
next visit to Whistler.

We have just returned from several nights at this hotel staying with two young
children in a 2 bedroom suite and another couple in a one bedroom. The decor is
simple, but well appointed and well taken care of. Everyone we dealt with from
the front desk to the maids were excellent. Although it is a little further away
from the lifts than some of the other hotels, it is still easily walk able and a
shuttle runs every 10 minutes or so. If you are certain of your travel I would
take advantage of their 25% discount for prepaying for your room. Our 2 bedroom
was $277/night and felt like a very good value. The 1 bedroom was $202, but with
a family the 2 bedroom was much nicer. I would also suggest signing up as a
Delta Privilege Member (for free) which gets you complimentary internet access
and early/late check in when possible. One charge to be aware of is parking at
$22/night.
I have only one complaint which was that our room was located above a local bar
and one night it was really loud. This was handled well by the staff but I would
definitely put in a request for a room away from "Garfinkels".

Building 1 is located above a nightclub that vibrates the building until 2am,
even up on the 4th floor. They offered a $450 credit but we settled on a $900
credit on the $4500 bill to compensate for the noise. Great location, very nice
and personable staff and convenient ski rental at Summit in the lobby (the
people there are really cool and accommodating) make the Delta Whistler a
potentially perfect place but the noise from Garfinkel's nightclub was so
intolerable for me that it's not worth the stay at any price.
