Hotel Review of the Four Seasons Hotel Whistler

Lovely deluxe room overlooking mountains; balcony; fireplace; comfortable bed. Bathroom nice tho' sadly just a small bathtub.
Liked the location. Not in Whistler village but you have option of walking there or taking the regular hotel shuttle. Advantage of location is that hotel is quiet. We spoke to some people staying in Whistler village who were woken up by noisy revellers in small hours of the morning.
Although not ski in-out, the ski concierge makes up for it. After the first morning, we would stroll to ski con where we had left our boots and skis overnight and then walk round to lift at base of Blackcomb. At the end of day- we would ski down Blackcomb and leave our skis with staff at Four Seasons tent at base of mountain and walk round to the ski con where they would offer to help us take off our boots, and offer us hot chocolate and warm cookies! Perfect. Lovely friendly helpful staff at SkiCon. excellent service.
Hot tubs outside were nice. Outside bar serves drinks from 3pm
Breakfast was not included in our rate. At $22 (plus tax and service) for continental, it does seem quite dear but for convenience factor we ended up having breakfast there every morning.
Service is lovely in hotel, room was great. Overall we really enjoyed our stay. My only niggle is that the hotel management seem quite stingey. At turndown service there is no chocolate, no complimentary bottle of water, no weather forecast note for following day. Fruit in room on arrival (2 apples and 2 oranges) were not replenished once eaten. If there was still some bath gel or shampoo in a bottle - an extra one was not left as a back up. All small things when they are done in a hotel, but noticeable when they are lacking.
Finally - 2 points
- we booked hotel package/ski passes through Ski Independence. Never used them before but very impressed and will use again. Think we got a really good deal through them compared with booking direct. Their ski rep on site was very good and ground arrangements all went to plan.

- if you are staying in the hotel and plan on walking into village make sure you take waterproof boots/shoes. Whilst we were there, we had a lot of fresh snow and rain and the pavements/road were very slushy. We saw so many people with UGG or similar type boots which were just soaking wet and totally unsuitable for the conditions.

the service is beyond excellent, very very helpful and polite,
the deluxe room was very spacious, well decorated, well equipped, and loved the over size bathroom and the ultimate soft towels
the sheets and duvet made you feel like you were sleeping on a cloud, had a hard time getting out of bed in the mornings,
the little 5-7 minute walk to the Blackcomb base was will worth it, since we did not have carry the ski equipment, and considered it our leg warm up for the hill.
the 3 hot tubs outside, the pool and the spa, are just the ultimate after the day of skiing,

This is the second year we have stayed in the Four Seasons and it was as great as we remembered! Before we arrived we asked for a room on the Reception Floor and this was organised for us - in addition we received a lovely bottle of Champagne and strawberries to celebrate our honeymoon.

The great things about the hotel are (a) staff - and yes they do anticipate your every need before you even ask (b) the food - great breakfast and superb bar food (c) spacious rooms (d) and above all else - the ski concierge service; oh the joy of not having to lug your skis from the slopes back to the hotel!

On the downside - (1) there is no indoor pool - surprising given the 5 star rating - and it can be chilly to use the outdoor pool! (2) the hushed elegance can be ever so slightly dull in the evening - a bit more entertainment in the bar area would help (3) avoid staying while they have a Conference - the delegates overwhelm the relatively small bar and dining room.

It makes no sense that this hotel is not rated no. 1 in Whistler! This was our second stay and on our last morning we checked out various room types in other highly rated hotels in the village, and the Four Seasons is far superior in terms of quality of fittings and amenities. The previous review mentioning worn plant makes no sense to me at all!

The only negative is the location in Blackcomb itself which requires a short shuttle ride to Whistler village, but this is adequately mitigated by the regularity of the shuttle, and the excellent ski concierge service at the base of Blackcomb (and Whistler in the afternoon), which makes it practically ski-in/ski-out, and the location also means no queues for lifts even on the busy weekend . There are many hotels in Whistler village itself which are a much further walk to the slopes.

We enjoyed an upgrade to a 1 bedroom suite as well as $400 f&b credit which made our stay extremely good value, especially as the bar and restaurant are excellent.

The staff are a mix of local, British and Australian and typically provide absolutely excellent service. We were always greeted by name, and the staff provide personal service without being over familiar. The only blip during our trip was the two days of a conference when the hotel was at 100% occupancy plus additional conference attendees, when the service in the bar became a little harassed, and the shuttle service was temporarily overwhelmed, but this was really only in comparison to previous days, and upon our return to the hotel after dinner, we had been left a delicious dessert sampler in the room presumably as a compensatory gesture.

In summary, the best hotel in Whistler, and exceptionally good value for the quality.

We stayed at the Four Seasons with our two children for a long weekend. The staff was friendly and the rooms were what you would expect from the Four Seasons - stylish and immaculate. The best feature of this hotel is its easy access to the Whistler Mountain. It is a short walk or shuttle ride to the gondola.
