Hotel Review of the Hilton

We were there for 6 days from 12/26 to 1/1/2011, and had a great time.
The staff there were terrific. My kids were not feeling well for the
first couple of days and the kitchenette which was comprised of a 2
burner stove was quite useful. We were able to cook canned soups and
even made spaghetti one night. It was both convient and cost saving.
Bar downstairs allowed the teens in until 8pm to play pool, backgammon,
and checkers which was fun for the teens as well.
I used points for this stay, and was upgraded to the Junior suite which
was clean. Whenever we had an issue, it was addressed promptly.
Concierge did a good job of recommending restaurants and making
reservations. However finding something to do on New Years eve was
problematic. We ended up staying in the room and going to sleep early.
Only issue with the hotel was the ski check. The Westin, Four Seasons
and a number of other hotels has the ski check right off the gondala.
The Hilton has the ski check in the Summit Rental shop. Where you have
to go down a flight of stairs with your skis which is a pain.

This was our first trip to Canada, put together at the last minute so we
were quite glad at the way it all turned out. There was a bit of a
hic-up at the start as the online booking system totally messed up our
booking, but that soon was sorted out (including credits etc.). If you
book online, make sure you get an email confirmation so you can check.
The shuttle bus door to door drop off and pickup from/to
airport/Vancouver was a big plus for us as we didn't really know how to
get around. On arrival, the hotel is 'pleasant' with a warm ambience,
the staff is efficient, and the room (with kitchenette) meet our
expectation for the entire stay (12 nights).
Then came the time to start skiing, this is where we thought the hotel
really excelled. Location, location, location. The village gondola and
village stroll is virtually on the hotel door steps, and there's
arrangement in place for guest to store skis at the Summit ski shop. I
would say this is as good a ski-in, ski-out experience as one can get at
whistler, plus the convenience of being right in the heart of Whistler
village. All the restaurants and shops and nearby, The entire experience
was exceptional.
We liked what's on offer for breakfast, but thought dinner was a little
boring so didn't spend much time in the hotel restaurant for dinner.
Besides the competition is intense in the village with food quality
generally excellent.
We're typically repeat customers, i.e. if we like something, we'll
return, so as far as comparison, and whether we could have done any
better, I would say we'll definitely return to the Hilton Whistler.

The location of Hilton is Perfect! Walk out of the hotel and everything
is there! We were also very pleased with the huge queen suite room,
which was perfect for our family of 5! What pleased us most is the
service. Even before our trip started , we received an email from the
concierge who largely planned our itinerary and booked our tours and
transfers before we arrived. My thanks to Maria , the Swedish lady from
concierge. She went all her way out to get us the most suitable tours
and was tremendously patient with all our requests ! She must be the
best in her league!! Thank you so much Maria for your part in making our
trip so perfect and memorable!

I wish I could give this hotel 10 stars!
We've been traveling to Whistler for the past six years and with the
exception of one year, we've stayed here.
- Terrific staff (did I say terrific? I meant to say
terrific/exceptional staff!)
- Great food and bar.
- An unusual spa - but the Javanese massage is 100 times better than any
hotel massage I've had.
- Great concierge staff.
- Rooms are well appointed and very spacious for Whistler.
- Close to everything (especially the Gondola/lifts).
Zero complaints...
Then this year I was married in Whistler on 12/26...the hotel pulled out
all the stops to make it special....room was decorated (tastefully),
special requests were catered to and staff congratulated us at every
turn. I'd have to single out Tim Koshul and Hilary Owen-Mold (hope I'm
not mis-spelling) for their efforts.
Stay here, trust me..it's the best there is in Whistler!

We went to Whistler for the first time and picked Hilton because of good
location and reviews. However, when we arrived there were no breakfast
even though we are diamond members, we were told many times to go and
see things in the area and when we did things were closed. The heaters
in the room did not work, had to use space heater, got hurt skiing and
wanted to leave early but they refused even though we saw a doctor as we
were told. The manager Chris Boland were discriminating and treating us
like dirt. We asked for a solution and an apology however, Hilton
Whistler refuses to follow their 100 % customer satisfaction guarantee.
Horrible hotel, Horrible customer service, No help. Dirty, No heat. VERY
BAD HOTEL. Stay somewhere else. |
