Hotel Review of the Westin Hotel Whistler

My husband and I recently went to Whistler for the very first time and we have to say, it was a wonderful experience. We stayed at the Westin for 4 days/nights and are starwood gold preferred members. We also are owners of villas on Maui and Kauai.

First of all, we expected to be treated extremely well because 1) it was our honeymoon and 2) we are owners at 2 properties. While we did receive a room on the concierge level (ninth floor), we were a little disappointed that we were not upgraded from a junior suite.
That being said, here are the pros and cons from our trip:

Pros: Room was decorated well, lobby is beautiful, vaulted ceilings on the 9th floor are impressive. Kitchen is small but livable, bed is comfortable. Fireplaces are nice and easy to turn on/off. The location is stellar, right next to the Whistler gondola.

Cons: When we checked in, $400 was "held" on our debit card. Unfortunately it was the only card we have as we do not like to keep debt, so that money was unusable for our trip. Gravely disappointing as this limited our activities for the rest of the trip. They said usually the hold is $200, but "for some reason" ours was $400.
The price for parking is absurd. The thermostat never got to the temperature we set it at. We were very warm in our rooms and had to keep the tiny window open. The room was about 71 the whole time and we like it cooler.
Bathrooms are small. We're used to larger bathrooms at Westin, with the dual shower head, and this did not have it. A little disappointing.
The restaurant was not good...there are so many other options in town, we made a mistake of eating here.

Even with that said though, I believe the hotel is very nice and really does live up to it's expectations. We were just disappointed by a few things but nothing that would deter us from returning to the property. We wish they had gone above and beyond for our honeymoon, but oh well, we werent going to let that ruin the trip.

Very enjoyable stay at Westin Whistler, definitely lives up to the Westin name. Big property, but warm, chateau-y feel. Lobby and room were nice and spacious, and proximity to the lifts made everything very convenient - went from parking to their rentals (which takes the Edge card rentals) to the lifts in under 20 mins. All the staff we dealt with were very friendly and helpful. The check-in process was a breeze (thanks Kris! Our room wasn't ready yet but he made sure picking up the room keys went very smoothly after a day on the slopes)

Room was comfortable, and the bathrooms a good size. Food in the hotel okay, but it's nice to venture out into the Village anyway =) Would recommend this hotel, and would definitely stay here again!

This is the second time I have stayed at the Westin in about the last 5 years. Other years I have stayed at the Pan Pacific Mountainside. Location for both is superb for proximity to the lifts for Whistler and Blackcomb. Rooms and clean and comfortable. Pool area and hot tubs is very nice, but very busy with kids on the weekends. You won't get a romantic dip in the hot tub on the weekends. Wifi is expensive, and you have to pay $6 per day to leave skis/snowboards with the valet in the lobby -- but as you aren't allowed to bring skis and boards to your room (which is understandable), don't charge me $6 for the 'privilege.' I did not try out the restaurants -- Whistler has a lot of options otherwise. Overall, very good hotel, good staff, etc.

It was my first time in Whistler and really liked it. As an "adult" child, I tagged along with my parents. We ate most of our meals at the hotel, some of which were through banquets, and they were all fantastic. The rooms were nice, although the bathroom was a bit small and there was not enough light. The pull out couch I slept on was not very comfortable either. The room was super clean and up to date, and all the little amenities in the room were nice, it was really comfortable. It was a great location, right on the hill. I used the gym and they had really nice equipment. Also used the locker room facilities, and the steam room, which was really really nice! I really enjoyed my stay!

We stayed one night in the Westin and was very impressed. The hotel itself is very nice and located right beside the Whistler gondola - roll out of bed, down the staIrs ( via the shower obviously!) and you are on the gondola.
For whatever reason, and mainly down to dopiness on my part, we were high maintenance guests and the service level was fantastic. We got to check into our room at 8.30. I got 2 parking tickets which the hotel staff sorted out for me. I left my keys behind and they arrange to have them posted straight away. The staff gave very good recommendations about where to go etc and were very helpful with logistics -checking the weather, lift openings, prices etc I generally like Westin hotels but have had some mixed but mostly experiences. This was definitely one of the good ones! Would be back here in a shot!

I generally choose Starwood properties for all my business travel, and we've stayed at the Westin Whistler for ski trips several times as well. Overall, it's a fantastic property with a very accommodating staff and great amenities.

The pool/hot-tub area is in my opinion, one of the best in Whistler. The rooms are spacious and always in great condition. During our last stay, we had a small blemish on the bed comforter, and without missing a beat, the housekeeping staff arrived to replace the linens...and were friendly during the process!

The Guest Services Managers are also great - I recently spoke with Daniel regarding an upcoming late March stay with SPG points and he was very helpful and pleasant on finding the best way to book our stay.

I travel quite a bit for work, and many times will see hotels start to tarnish after awhile, but having stayed at the Westin Whistler several times over a multiple years, it's apparent that the management knows what they're doing to keep their guests happy.
