The separate doors played parts in a couple of funny incidents. A hotel rep came
to our room right after arrival with a welcome gift of one bottle of water and
one apple. When he knocked on our door, our cousin also answered his, since it
couldn't be determined which door was being knocked. There was no explanation of
how four people would share the water or the apple. A few minutes later, one of
the housekeeping staff knocked on the door (with the same simultaneous response)
with another welcome gift bottle of water. Faced with multiple door openings,
she graciously blessed us all with individual bottles of water.
Check-in went fine, except for the difficulty we had in finding the self-parking
area in the underground cavern that serves more than one hotel. We had to double
back to the reception area to clarify the directions...but that was not a big
matter and we soon had the route figured out. Everyone at the front desk was
friendly, efficient and helpful. (By the way, we had no problem finding a
luggage cart.)
The view from our balconies was fantastic. My cousin referred to Whistler
Village as "Alice in Wonderland." We spent most of the day on the Village
Stroll, enjoying the buskers, people watching, checking out all the shops and
marvelling at the mountain bikers coming down the ski slopes (never saw a single
one fall and we were impressed with the specialized attire they all seemed to be
able to afford). Due to time constraint and a bit of fear of heights on the part
of one in the party, we didn't do the ski lifts and the peak to peak tram (but
will do so next time).
Found a great soup & sandwich place for lunch (thanks to a tip from the hotel
front desk personnel) and had dinner at Dubh Linn Gate Irish Pub. Left early the
next morning to have breakfast at Chef Big D's in Squamish enroute to Vancouver.
All in all, it was a quick, but most enjoyable visit...

You step out of this hotel and you are right in the village. The service, staff,
rooms, pools were wonderful. The grocery store is a 3 min. walk including all
other attractions. You can rent a bike from the hotel itself and enjoy the day.
We stayed here for a week and never used our car at all for the whole week.
Everything is within walking distance. It was great. We had a two bedroom unit
with a kitchen that was well stocked i.e. dishwashing powder, dishwashing
liquid, washer/dryer, including laundry detergent. I was bit surprised. All you
needed to buy was the food and cook. Everything was there including kitchen
cloths - towels etc.

Easy to get to, easy underground parking, helpful and friendly reception and
greeting staff. We arrived early and there was no problem checking in. Whistler
village and all its attractions are right on your doorstep but did not intrude
on our peace and quiet whilst in the hotel. Excellent, roomy, well equipped
suites. Very clean, everything looked very new. A small enclosed pool area
includes hot tubs to ease away the days exercise aches. We would recommend this
hotel if you are visiting Whistler at any time of year.

We thought we were safe with this hotel because we looked at the "peak rating"
on the Whistler Central Reservations and it was 4 stars. We choose it because
they seemed geared to kids and the excellent location. This was a mistake. Upon
arrival it took us a good 10 minutes to be acknowledged so we could check in,
there are no luggage carts to use although the bell men are very good and tried
to make up for the attitudes and non helpful nature of reception. The hot tub
was closed, the rooms are small, but very clean. The tiles need replaced in the
pool and the hot tub needs to be opened. You can not spend time at the pool as
there are not enough loungers. We didn't receive a child pack, as promised on
the website. Every time we approached the concierge or the reception we had to
wait at least 20 minutes to ask our question.
We needed to leave one day early because of my 3 year old and even though I
asked about this 2 days early, they said that I would be billed the full amount
of my original reservation. After speaking to the Revenue Manager we were
allowed to leave one day early. I understand their policy but it was the
attitude, that went along with the request.
We visit Whistler at least 3 times a year and usually stay at the Westin or
Hilton. It is well worth the extra money, and not being in the center of the
village to have the little extras such as, all the TV Channels, a DVD player,
internet, helpful and friendly staff, luggage racks etc.

The suites are not that big but clean and fresh. There is a pool for the
kids. The hotel suites are on a wonderful location in the middle of the
town. If you don't like many tourists Whistler will not be your number
One. A lot of shops, stores, restaurants and pubs. The suites have their
own fully equipped kitchen. Ask for a room with a mountain view

We booked a 2 bedroom suite and it was amazing - very spacious with a
large living area, well equipped kitchen and 2 bathrooms (which we
hadn't expected)! Location fantastic - in the centre of everything. Good
pool, very helpful concierge and staff and we could even book canoeing
and hire bikes from Eco Tours within the hotel. Cannot fault a thing!

We recently stayed here for 3 nights with our 2 cats (first ever
vacation for them) and most everything was great. We called before we
left Vancouver to make sure our room would be ready as I did not want to
leave the cats in the car while waiting for our room. The front desk was
able to confirm the room would be ready when we arrived and it was!
Check in was easy and Mark was very helpful with the luggage. The
parking is expensive (everywhere in Whistler is) but was easy to get in
and out of. We were able to store our bikes in the shop but it was full
the whole time we were there. However there was always someone to help
us get them out.
We had a 1 bedroom suite which was pet friendly on the 5th floor
overlooking the village. Room was a bit worn, the carpet needed
replacing, but I figured being in a pet friendly room it would be more
worn than usual. The only noise complaints were the loud people walking
home from the bars at 2am but overall the room was quiet. Used the pool
once and it was fine, fairly large for Whistler.
We had free highspeed wireless which worked well. The full kitchen was
nice to have and was stocked with all the dishes etc that you would
need. We ate breakfast in every morning and cooked one dinner. The bed
and pillows were comfortable. The bathroom was split into 2 rooms, one
with the tub/shower and the other with the sink and toilet.
The staff were all great and we would not hesitate to stay here again.
In fact we are already booked for October so we can be there for the
Turkey Sale. |
