Hotel Review of the Executive Inn At Whistler Village

We have stayed at a few different places in Whistler. The Executive Inn is one of the better places if you are after something basic in the heart of downtown. Again this place is nothing fancy. We had a clean room with kitchenette with a balcony that looked out into the heart of village stroll. The hotel is in a great location just minutes from the base gondolas. They have a secure ski room downstairs which is very secure so leaving your ski stuff there made it very easy to get to the lifts from your room in a few minutes (not even 5 minutes walking). They also have pay parking which is first come first serve. We were lucky and were able to get a paid parking spot. If we did not we would have had to park our car across the street at the outside overnight parking lot.

Just like any place right along village stroll you will hear the people at night so bring ear plugs. We were there for St.Patrick's day, and I had ear plugs in knowing that it may get quite loud. I slept fine but understand that without earplugs, you might have a bad experience.

The person working there had said that they just renovated the rooms, before the 2010 Olympics, and at the same time fixed the elevator; so all the earlier reviews with the elevator not working; it now works.

Our family always stay at the executive inn when we take a trip to Whistler. One of the main reasons we love it here is the convenience of its location and the price which is very reasonable. Yes, the services offered at the hotel are minimal, but we didn't come to Whistler for hotel service. There isn't an elevator, but we always stay on the second floor, so we get a tad bit of exercise - no big deal. The laundry area is small, but sufficient and clean. In fact, the hotel itself is fairly clean and well maintained. It doesn't offer all the bells and whistles of the major luxurious hotels, but at the same time, is it 1/2-1/3 of the price less. The bathroom is small, and the tub is abit awkward to get into, but my kids love turning on the jacuzzi with bath bubbles after a long day of playing in the snow. The bed in the loft is very comfortable. There is enough storage. The very best that this hotel has to offer is the location. Close to everything! Convenient free underground parking. We have been vacationing at this complex for over a decade, since it was the Fireplace Inn and always come back for the location, convenience and value. Christensen Family

The best attribute of this place is its proximity to the the ski lifts...it's close. And the studio we rented was kept clean. But, for the price, it has many inadequacies and quirks. The shower (or lack there of) being the prime one. In order to advertise in-room hot tubs Executive Inn has stuffed an oddly designed one in each bathroom such that you can barely open the door to let yourself in. It is very difficult to get into as well. For some older people it may be impossible w/o injury. Extremely low water flow from the shower once you manage to get in awaits. You will end up taking baths for your stay here. Overall lighting was poor...very dark. Refrigerator did not work well...ended up keeping drinks on balcony to chill. Front desk service was apathetic and unfriendly. No help with luggage in lieu of no elevator. Would not stay here again!

The Whistler Executive Inn is really a barebones affair. Service means somebody at the front desk during business hours. The building needs freshening up outdated in the bathrooms. Fantastic location, right in the heart of the village. This hotel is a bit dated, particularly in the entry area. The bathroom is small and has a very odd style of Jacuzzi. Otherwise lovely little room with a wood burning fireplace, and a nice kitchenette. Not high end, but very clean and serviceable.

Location is just awesome - just 2 min from the gondolas/lifts and the bus stop for the free shuttle to Blackcomb base. You REALLY don't want to be lugging your snowboard/skis around for more than 2 min after a long day out on the slopes. We had a double loft at the Whistler Executive Inn which is really cosy for a couple with the fireplace and hot tub. You will sooo congratulate yourself on splurging on a place with a private Jacuzzi. Plus the bed is *super* comfy!

Having said that, the fire logs don't give out much heat and it's mostly for ambience. Also the door to the balcony lets in some of the cold in the winter though, so you might want to opt out of the balcony rooms (not like you're going to be out there basking in the winter chill anyway). The tub is quite an acrobatic feat (even for us under-30s) to get in and out of, and you have no choice but to use it coz it's combined with the shower!

Whistler Executive Inn is really more an inn than a hotel so just don't expect the lobby/reception to be posh and the amenities to be amazing and you're all set for an awesome stay!

We stayed there while under major renos (new elevator) and it was still a disappointment. Unfinished room should not have been let. When asking for a hair dryer, non available. Typical of many service issues. An e-mail to the manager after our stay with constructive criticism elicited no reply. They have some understandable serious challenges prior to the Olympics and must learn how to deal with their customers.

Great location, great price , a very comfortable bed with a pillow topper, a balcony, a fireplace, a kitchen and free parking underground. Not recommended for light sleepers (noise from the village way past midnight), older people (lack of elevator and hard to step in whirlpool bathtub).

If you plan to eat at the Italian restaurant next door Il Caminetto, check out their prices before you get seated .

We also appreciated the washer and dryer on our floor. Would definitely stay at the Whistler Executive Inn again.

It was better than the pictures that I saw of the room online, and was very functional for what we needed. Nothing I did not like, it either met or exceeded (sp?) our expectations. The location is perfect (everything is right there, including grocery store, restaurants and attractions). The service is seamless (everything is taken care of that you want, but is not overwhelming. They let you have your own experience). Anything that we "asked" for was provided... The room was by far better than expected after booking and looking at the pictures online (ex; the bathtub/Jacuzzi), especially the for the price (but I imagine that we stayed there during an "off season"). Basically, if you want to enjoy you visit yourself, and have things "taken care of" then this is a great place to stay.
